Introductory Summer School in Astronomy and Astrophysics

List of selected participants for ISSAA-2016

The summer school for students will be held for five weeks during May - June of every even-numbered year. It is designed to introduce students to the exciting fields of astronomy and astrophysics (A+A). No previous knowledge of Astronomy
and Astrophysics is necessary, though familiarity with the basic principles of mathematics and physics is required.

We expect to have about 35 students in the programme. The school will consist of lectures covering the fundamentals of A+A as well as recent developments in the field. In addition, participants may take part in individual projects under suitable guidance. The lecturers for the school will be drawn from the leading A+A centres in India. There is a possibility for a few motivated students to spend an additional week at IUCAA after the school.

Students completing B.Sc. or 2nd year of B.Tech. / B.E. / Integrated M.Sc. are eligible to apply.

The last date for applying is February 25.

Selected candidates will be informed by the end of March. They are provided with travel, boarding and lodging for the duration of the school.

Note: The summer school is conducted only in even-numbered years. In 2016 it will be held during May 16 - June 17.
