IUCAA has openings at all levels.

There are openings for faculty positions, post-doctoral positions, research scholars, Scientific/ Technical/ Administrative/ Project Staff.

We have invited applicaitons for Post Doctoral Positions ( 2018-2019 )

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Galaxy Structure and Evolution at  IUCAA

Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellowship for a period of three years based at Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, India. The position is funded by the CEFIPRA - Indo-French Center for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR) project “The Assembly history of disk galaxies over the last 8 billion years”.

The project consists of two broad areas:
1. Analyse multi-wavelength data set, ranging from UV to IR and CO on galaxies in the HST/GOODS field. The UV observations are from the Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT), AstroSat.
2. Perform numerical simulations to understand formation and evolution of various structures in disk galaxies over the last 8 billion years.

The successful candidate can choose to work in either of the two areas and will become a member of the project collaboration between IUCAA (Project PI: Kanak Saha) and Observatoire de Paris, France (Project PI: Francoise Combes).

Eligibility:
The candidate has to be an Indian nationality with an MSc degree in Physics/astronomy with NET qualification. Preference will be given to one having experience in bservational astronomy, data analysis, and/or in one or more of the programming languages e.g., Fortran, C++, Python, IDL.

Remuneration/Fellowship: Fellowship shall be Rs. 25000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 28000/pm in the third year.
